TFM&A debrief

February 26th, 2009 by Michael

A weary but enlightened Studio North contingent arrived back in Manchester late last night after two days at the Technology for Marketing & Advertising exhibition at Earls Court.

At a time when the marketing mix is expanding almost exponentially, primarily due to the growing influence of the internet over the masses, no serious design industry professional could possibly have ignored such an event.

Every Can Counts Kicks off in Brum….

February 25th, 2009 by matt

There’s been a real buzz around Studio North HQ when I’ve been in this week as the team has been trying to get Birmingham businesses to ‘Can It’ following the launch of Every Can Counts! This fantastic initiative, which is funded by drinks can manufacturers, recyclers and government organisations as well as waste management service providers, is there to encourage local businesses and public sector organisations in the area to recycle the humble drinks can.

The guys have created a series of creative executions for the campaign, including; a full brand identity, the website – www.everycancounts.co.uk – which gives useful tips, hints and recommendations on how employers can do their bit! This week, a direct mailer is being sent out to 1,600 senior decision makers and will then be followed by HTML e-mails as well as both on and offline advertising in key local and business press including; Midlands Business Insider & the Birmingham Post so keep your eyes peeled!

The aim is to target the 30,000 tonnes of aluminium and 8,000 tonnes of steel from cans that are consumed in the workplace annually and are therefore not recycled through traditional kerbside schemes. So… if you’re in the Birmingham area, then why not speak to your boss and see if you can make a difference!

Internally berated for a touch of arrogance on a previous blog and rambling too much on most others, I should really tone down both the length and self-congratulatory nature of this post. Hmmm, maybe.

We are doing absolutely bloody brilliant in Google’s organic search listings on pretty much all of our preferred key phrases. Result, no ad costs, loads of new enquiries, huge income streams and a much brighter outlook for 2009. Thank you webbies, I love you all.

There you go, one out of two ain’t bad.

Being a web designer by day (super hero by night obviously!!!), I look at a fair few websites each month. I thought I’d share some of the ones that I’ve been either amused/impressed by or liked/loved. Enjoy :o )
